Generative Typography
Basics of Generative Typography is the third in a series of four Design Educator Typography Intensives. Classroom I, the Basics of Generative Typography, led by ArtCenter faculty Roy Tatum, will explore the ways in which new tools, technologies and techniques are impacting the rapidly expanding field of typographic practice. Classroom II, also led by Roy Tatum, builds upon the tools, technologies, and techniques presented in Classroom I.

Type Speaks
Steven Heller & Gail Anderson
Steven Heller & Gail Anderson have co-authored numerous books on typography including American Type Play, New Ornamental Type, Type Tells Tales, and New Vintage Type. They will talk about their most recent publication Type Speaks [June 2021] and the proliferation of type design across all media from hand-drawn letterforms to generative machine-based designs.

This workshop will explore the ways in which new tools, technologies, and techniques are impacting the rapidly expanding field of typographic practice. Students will get an overview of how to create dynamic typographic systems using modularity, data, and code-based operations.
